Lori Rowe
Lori is a food enthusiast who has been continuously impressed with the breadth of engagement of the Intervale Center and its impact on food systems and the farmers who grow it. Serving on the Midsummer’s Feast Committee has allowed Lori to interact with staff and board members, creating an opportunity to learn even more about how the Intervale Center operates and affects food quality, production and eating throughout the state.
Lori has taught children and also had a stint teaching American soldiers stationed in Germany. Upon returning to the States, and settling in the Burlington area, she worked in the Human Resources field, at the University of Vermont, Fassetts Bakery, Ben and Jerry’s ( she started the HR department there when there were only 80 employees!) and Fanny Allen Hospital. After maneuvering through both non-profit and for-profit organizations, Lori opened a flower shop, creating an environment similar to the European markets she had enjoyed while living abroad.
Lori is now retired, serves on the Burlington City Arts Board, has been on the board of Shelburne Craft School, on the Community Forum of VPR, as well as a volunteer in the Williston public schools. She is a perpetual student of Italian at UVM.
Lori is an amateur potter, loves to snowshoe, walk, spin, is an avid gardener, and has a passion for travel. She is honored to be invited to serve on the board of the Intervale Center.
